Winter Trend Report: Crimson Kisses

Crimson Kisses

Lush Lips

Seen at: Antonio Berardi, Elie Saab, Giles, Giorgio Armani, J Mendel

Rules: Bright red lips are back, but this time round they demand lip liner. Match the pencil to your pout and use it to create lips that are clean, smudge-free and a fraction fuller. Shades vary from crimson to claret to cherry red but a matte finish remains de rigueur. To ensure lips stay sheen-free, blot with a tissue between layers of lipstick – this presses the pigment into your lips and improves its staying power.

Top tip: ‘Create the perfect lip line by sketching around lips using a pencil to stop lipstick from ‘bleeding’, then fill in the shape using the pencil,’ says Pat McGrath, make-up artist for Max Factor. ‘Follow by painting over with lipstick using a flat edged brush.’
