It’s Valentine’s soon (ish) and its at this time of year, perhaps more than any other, when a chap’s mind flirts with the notion of buying undergarments for his lady friend. Well hold it right there, Mister. Before you rush headlong into another pantastrophe take heed of this advice from a lady in the know – Lindsey Brown of Browns Lingerie.

Size is often the first stumbling block. Don’t guess it. Sneak a peak in her lingerie drawer; take a picture of the label to remember the size and brand. Make sure you’ve got the letter and number for bra size, and get the briefs size too. If you’re not sure which she prefers, shorts are the safest option, as they can be worn under anything and come in a variety of styles. Not boys’ boxers though, we ladies like a feminine short shape to flatter the leg.

What colour are her undies? Go on; have a good rummage around her underwear drawer. Fancy something a little different? If she wears dark colours, go for this season’s purple, or instead of white try baby pink.

Lingerie isn’t all frills and lace. If your lass is a cotton kind of girl, a fitted vest or ribbed top will suit her and win you brownie points. Team it with sexy matching shorts and you’ve doubled those points. Result.

Baffled by the styles of bra? Opt for pieces such as camisole sets (which is a vest and shorts that can be worn as sleepwear, around the house etc.) If you’re really unsure, buy briefs – they’re still a great gift, but the ultimate present for a lingerie lover would be a made to measure corset.

Don’t be intimidated about asking for help, that’s what the sales girls are there for. They won’t think you’re a perv.  Promise.
