The new landmark Hilton Liverpool celebrated its grand opening with a celebrity studded event and an exclusive performance by international artists the Sugababes.
The stylish and contemporary 215 – bedroom property played host to a collection of local celebrities and dignitaries as guests of Hilton and the hotel’s owners, the Ability Group. Guests were treated to a fashion show from renowned Liverpool fashion house Cricket, stunning jewellery display from Boodles, music from über cool DJ Freemason and
exquisite food from chefs flown in from Hilton hotels across Europe.
The £55 million property has been designed to represent the curvature and ebb and flow of the Mersey River. Situated on the edge of the award-winning Liverpool ONE shopping complex, Hilton Liverpool enjoys a prime location overlooking Liverpool’s historic Albert Dock.
Simon Vincent, Hilton Worldwide Area President, Europe said: “Liverpool is one of the UK’s most vibrant and dynamic cities. Having enjoyed “European Capital of Culture” status last year, and with the Liverpool ONE development complete, the city is strengthening its position as one of the UK’s most important destinations for business and leisure. We are delighted to be growing our presence in the North West with such a stunning hotel, which should increase Liverpool’s appeal even further.”
The stylish internal décor of the building has been created to enhance the hotel’s maritime design and heritage. In the lobby, timber has been used to illustrate the meanders of the River, and a piece of artwork mounted in the reception was specifically commissioned and created in resin to support the theme.
The hotel bar, Pima, celebrates the city’s heritage as a cotton trading port as Pima is a type of high-quality cotton from America. The bar’s interior design includes cotton-related artworks and exclusive lighting that appears as cotton balls.
The Exchange restaurant acknowledges the site which previously housed the city’s Custom House, regarded as the epicentre of the docks and where the exchange of goods was recorded. In keeping with the Customs House theme, signage for the restaurant has been created using typography and colours typical of an authentic Victorian Dock sign.
Additional features include a dedicated business centre, wireless internet, state of the art audiovisual equipment, a concierge service and a gym. On the seventh floor, an exclusive executive lounge offers magnificent views over the city.
Room rates at Hilton Liverpool start from £135 per room per night on a bed and breakfast basis. To book, visit www.hilton.co.uk/liverpool.
