Leicester Comedy Festival: Frisky and Mannish

If you love a bit of a silly sing- song and your music a little bit camp, a little bit over the top and a little bit in your face, then chances are you’ll love the brilliance that is Frisky and Mannish. They are visiting Leicester for one night only this Sunday before they jet off into the sun to take up a residency at the Sydney Opera house for Mardi Gras.
Having been described as ‘’a vision of glitter, sequins, wigs and attitude’’, Frisky and Mannish have been taking School of Pop, their original take on musical comedy and cabaret acts, all over the country with Firebug in Leicester their next port of call as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival.
If- like me- you’d never heard off them until today, then I strongly suggest you check them out. If you’re already flying the Frisky and Mannish flag high and proud then you’ll already know that they’re brilliant so you won’t need me to tell you!
They essentially dissect songs from the likes of Girls Aloud, The Ting Tings and Kate Nash amongst others (if you remember the equally awesome ‘Super Girly’ its along the same lines). Their ‘aim’ is to educate the masses on the hidden meanings of pop songs. Like, who knew that TLC’s No Scrubs was originally penned by Henry VIII to the tune of Greensleeves, or that Sound Of The Underground by Girls Aloud provides the perfect backing track to several popular nursery rhymes? I think I love them a little bit.
Catch them at Firebug, Leicester on Sunday 7th February. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10 for standard and £8 for concession. But be snappy- the buy tickets they’re selling like hotcakes.
